Memphis reacted to Corinthians’ 1-0 win at Athletico by criticising the pitch and appearing to mock the officiating on social media.

The match was a rearranged second-round Brasileiro fixture on Thursday night.

The player said in a post that the Arena da Baixada’s synthetic surface was horrible, and, in what read as irony, hailed the referees as absolutely the best after 13 minutes were added in the second half. He signed off noting three points and wishing good night.

The result marked Corinthians’ third consecutive victory across the Brasileiro and Paulista. In the league they are fifth with two wins and one defeat from three rounds, one point off the leaders.

They play Portuguesa at Canindé on Sunday at 20:30, a one-off tie for a Paulista semi-final spot. In the Brasileiro they face Cruzeiro at the Mineirão in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday at 20:00 Brasília time.
