Memphis to receive help from personal physio at Corinthians | OneFootball

Spanish physiotherapist Fermin Valera has arrived in Brazil to continue Memphis Depay’s recovery, working with Corinthians’ medical and physiotherapy staff at CT Joaquim Grava.

According to Globo.com, football executive Marcelo Paz said Valera, a professional trusted by the forward, is collaborating with the club to speed up his progress so he can return as soon as possible.

Valera previously oversaw Rodrigo Garro’s treatment for patellar tendinopathy in his right knee in April last year.

Memphis sustained a grade two muscle injury in the front of his right thigh during the first half against Flamengo on 22 March in the eighth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. He has also been managing pain in his left knee, which led to an intra-articular hyaluronic acid injection with Valera.

He missed the Netherlands fixtures in the last international window, undergoing treatment with Valera in Spain and the Netherlands before returning to Brazil and reporting back at the training ground.

After the Dérbi, head coach Fernando Diniz acknowledged the forward’s frustration and said he values clear communication between the medical department and players. He said he had already spoken with Memphis and was confident they would move towards a harmonious relationship, adding that others in the squad could benefit too.
