Messi marks three years since Qatar 2022 World Cup with Instagram tribute | OneFootball

According to SuperDepor.com, Lionel Messi marked the third anniversary of Argentina’s Qatar 2022 World Cup triumph by sharing an Instagram story and resharing his 18 December 2022 post, the most liked in Instagram history.

The image shows the Rosario-born forward lifting the trophy, captioned "3 años de las 3 estrellas".

Messi produced a historic tournament, scoring seven goals in seven matches, including two in the final against France. The match finished 3-3 after 120 minutes, Argentina then won on penalties.

The win secured Argentina’s third star and capped Messi’s fifth World Cup. He had previously reached the quarter-finals in Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010, the final in Brazil 2014 and the last 16 in Russia 2018.

Team-mates also marked the date, among them Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez, Leandro Paredes, Alexis Mac Allister and Ángel di María. Martínez shared a photo of his last-minute save from Kolo Muani to force penalties, while di María reposted the national team’s video. Paredes posted an image touching the trophy at the ceremony, and Mac Allister shared a clip of the move for the 2-0 when he set up di María on a counter.
