Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has tipped England international Jarrod Bowen to replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield.
There has been plenty of speculation about who could replace Salah at Anfield since the Egyptian forward announced he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
The Reds have been linked with several names over the past few weeks, and former Liverpool players have been offering their opinions on who they would want to see at the club.
Steven Gerrard has previously named Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise as his ideal Salah replacement, but Liverpool understand that luring him away from the Bundesliga champions is almost impossible.
Liverpool have also been linked with a few other interesting names, such as Juventus’ Francisco Conceicao and RB Leipzig’s highly sought-after Yan Diomande.
Owen has now weighed in on the conversation, and he believes Liverpool shouldn’t look further than Bowen in their search for Salah’s long-term replacement.
The former Liverpool striker heaped praise on the West Ham legend and tipped his former employers to swoop in if the Hammers are relegated.
When asked if he would like to see Bowen at Liverpool, Owen said on talkSPORT: “Jarrod Bowen is a legend of a player. West Ham adore the man, and rightly so.
“But if West Ham went down, he would fit [Liverpool] for me. I think he’s absolutely brilliant.
“He’s a real top finish, and I think he’s a brilliant player. I don’t want to upset West Ham fans, but if they went down, then he would be my idea of somebody to replace Salah”.
Bowen has been a faithful servant to West Ham since joining from Hull City six years ago and has established himself as a fan favourite and the club’s talisman.
Over the years, he has bagged 84 goals and 62 assists in 277 games for West Ham, including 10 goals and 11 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions this season.
He’ll be expected to jump ship if West Ham do not survive relegation, but there haven’t been any links to a potential summer move to Liverpool yet.
