Michel Der Zakarian could return to Nantes after Ligue 2 relegation

Michel Der Zakarian could return to Nantes following the club's relegation to Ligue 2.

According to L'Équipe, the 63-year-old and the club are close to an agreement, with Der Zakarian in line to replace Vahid Halilhodzic, who could not prevent relegation in mid-May.

A Loire-Atlantique resident, he was seen at the Stade Marcel-Saupin on 20 May for the Challenge Espoirs final, which Nantes won against OM after a 0-0 draw, 5-3 on penalties.

Der Zakarian has already managed the Canaris from February 2007 to August 2008, then from 2012 to 2016, overseeing promotions to Ligue 1 in 2008 and 2013.

He has also coached Clermont, Reims and Montpellier, and has been unattached since his spell with Caen in Ligue 2 from February to May 2025, when the Normandy club were relegated to National.
