FootballInsider247 reports that Middlesbrough are interested in purchasing Hamburg striker Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer. It remains very important to note that no reliable German sources are corroborating the rumor at this juncture. It nevertheless would make a great deal of sense for HSV to sell the 24-year-old before the end of th current January transfer window.
The newly promoted Bundesliga outfit attempted to offload Königsdörffer this summer, but a sale to Nice fell through. The Berlin-native managed to score his first ever Bundesliga goal this season, but has been unable to snatch a second since opening his German top flight account in November.
Königsdörffer has made only four league starts this season and never remained on the pitch for the full 90 minutes. Hamburg have utilized the current window to procure more reliable options in attack, most notably Southampton striker Damion Downs.
Still a €4m-valued player, Königsdörffer sits on an expiring contract. The former Ghanaian international’s club can easily turn a profit on the striker they once paid only €1.5m to acquire from Dynamo Dresden. Hamburg may be willing to let Königsdörffer depart on a deal well below his estimated market value.
