According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Miguel Merentiel has suffered a muscle tear and will miss Boca’s decisive meeting with Universidad Católica. The Uruguayan has a small tear in his right soleus and will sit out the match scheduled for 21:30 on Thursday 28 May at the Estadio Alberto J. Armando.
He was absent from training the previous day, which the club initially framed as load management. When he missed Saturday’s session as well, the coaching staff confirmed a muscular injury, with what began as discomfort later identified as a tear.
Merentiel’s injury leaves Claudio Úbeda with a call to make up front for the clash with the Cruzados, which Boca must win to reach the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores 2026.
Úbeda has four training sessions left to finalise his line-up and could keep the system or adjust it in light of this setback.
Adam Bareiro is also injured and working to recover in time, though it is viewed as very difficult for him to make it. Edinson Cavani has been training with the group and hopes for a chance, but the staff consider him short of match fitness. Another alternative would be to turn to Changuito Zeballos.
