Massimiliano Allegri was in favor of bringing Thiago Silva back to Milan, but he didn’t have many allies within the team, and the veteran has joined Porto instead. He signed a six-month contract with an option for another year.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Rossoneri will have to look elsewhere to bolster their defense. They are eyeing Axel Disasi. He’s been frozen out by Chelsea and hasn’t played since trying to engineer his return to Monaco and rejecting a few English destinations.
Chelsea and Milan have put together a few deals in recent months, which could facilitate the transfer of Disasi, although they failed to come to terms for Mike Maignan last summer. The Blues spent €45M for the Frenchman in 2023. He fell out of favor after Mauricio Pochettino was ousted. He played at Aston Villa in the second half of last season, making seven appearances.
Per Calciomercato, director Igli Tare is a fan of Mario Gila, but it won’t be easy to convince Lazio to sell him in January. The Rossoneri are also tracking the Sassuolo duo, Tarik Muharemovic and Jay Idzes, and Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-Jae. Instead, Sergio Ramos isn’t a concrete possibility at the moment despite some links. Niklas Sule could emerge as a late flier.
Reuniting with Thiago Silva would have been a nostalgia boost, but they also need to think about the future. They might not have much to spend in January and will probably have to make do with what’s available on loan or for free. They don’t necessarily need a new starter, but they have to sign somebody ready to play right away if needed.
