Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri decided not to hold back his feelings for his opposition manager Cesc Fabregas on the night when the Rossoneri settled for a 1-1 draw with Como

Speaking to the press in the post-match conference, Allegri explained the red card that he was shown for intervening in a controversial shirt-pull event by Fabregas. The Italian coach said: “Fabregas? Saelemaekers was being held back by Fabregas at the time, then someone else entered the pitch. So, I had to go over there. It’s something that ends there.”

With just ten minutes to go for the end of the match and the scores 1-1, Milan’s Alexis Salaemaekers allegedly had his shirt pulled by Como boss Fabregas, which obstructed a potential attack. The ensuing reaction from either side led to a melee between the technical teams of the two sides as Allegri and a member of the Como staff were sent off from the pitch for their protests. The Spanish coach surprisingly avoided a red card and even a warning from the referee.

The situation is expected to have escalated further after the final whistle in the tunnel, where insults were exchanged, and physical contact could have taken place.

The 1-1 draw was a rather satisfactory affair for Como, who remain in sixth place on the league standings. However, the Rossoneri would see this result as a missed opportunity to close the gap to neighbourhood rivals and Serie A leaders Inter. Milan stay second on the table but are now seven points away from Cristian Chivu’s outfit.
