Milan Linked to Real Madrid and Barcelona Defenders

Milan haven’t finalized their decision but are starting to get the sense that they’ll be able to pair Ralf Rangnick and Oliver Glasner and have begun eyeing players with ties to the duo, like David Alaba and Andreas Christensen.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the coach has declined an offer from Feyenoord. He’ll either helm the Rossoneri or wait for another opportunity of the same caliber. He could arrive solo. Instead, the negotiation with the director has been more challenging because of his significant requests. If they pivoted, they’d likely hire Ramon Planes and Mauricio Pochettino. They worked together at Barcelona.

In the meantime, Milan have been offered Alaba, who’s leaving Real Madrid as a free agent, and Christensen. The former had been proposed to Inter and Inter as well. They passed on him, at least for now, because of his wages and checkered injury history. He’s a cornerstone of Rangnick’s Austria.

According to Matteo Moretto (via SOSFanta), the Barcelona center-back is technically on an expiring contract, but he has an agreement in place for a two-year renewal. However, the exec esteems him a lot. He’s been in Catalunya since 2022, following a run at Chelsea, and has totaled 98 appearances. He featured just 18 times in the most recent campaign because of a serious knee problem.

Our Take on Milan, Alaba, and Christensen

It’s a little early to name names on the transfer market, given the murkiness at the highest level, but agents and intermediaries don’t sleep. The chatter could be an indication of where they are headed. They need a right-footed defender more than a lefty, regardless of the scheme, and the latter’s demands figure to be more manageable.
