Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is on AC Milan’s transfer shortlist, according to Gianluca DiMarzio.
The Arsenal ace is the Serie A side’s top target to bolster the centre-forward position, which is one of their priorities heading into the summer transfer window.
Jesus has fallen down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta. Big-money summer signing Viktor Gyokeres has unsurprisingly taken the starting berth.
Kai Havertz has played back up to the Swede, leaving Jesus on the Arsenal bench when he manages to stay fit these days.
Despite his ‘impressive’ reputation, Jesus’ time at the Emirates Stadium has been disappointing since his 2022 summer transfer.
The 29-year-old has managed only five goals and two assists in 25 appearances this season, taking his tally to 53 goal contributions in 121 appearances.
With only a year left on his deal, Arsenal know they must either sell or renew and will likely lean towards the former, allowing the Rossoneri to pounce.
Milan are waiting to see whether Arsenal will let him go and, if so, under what conditions they are prepared to sell.
A move to Serie A could be exactly what Jesus needs at this stage of his career.
Injuries have repeatedly disrupted his rhythm in England, preventing him from building sustained momentum at Arsenal after such a promising start to life in North London.
Italy offers a different environment altogether.
AC Milan would provide Jesus with the opportunity to rebuild both his reputation and consistency at a club still competing at the highest level.
If he can stay fit, there is little doubt he still possesses the intelligence, pressing ability and technical quality to become a key player for a Champions League side again.
For Arsenal, this summer should also be about refreshing their attacking depth.
Gyokeres and Kai Havertz give Arteta strong options, but another young striker with elite potential is needed to push the pair and secure the long-term future of the position.
Links to Endrick are understandable given his enormous ceiling, although prising him away from Real Madrid already looks unrealistic.
However, his Madrid teammate Gonzalo Garcia could be a far more attainable target worth serious consideration.
