Another of the candidates to be a new striker at Milan, Roma and Napoli has been ruled out, as Artem Dovbyk reportedly intends to stay at Girona.

All three Serie A sides are seeking a centre-forward to lead the line this term and as a result have regularly been linked with the same targets.

Among them is Dovbyk, the 27-year-old Ukraine international who was also of interest to Atletico Madrid and West Ham United.

He impressed in his debut season in LaLiga with Girona FC, scoring 24 goals with eight assists in 36 games.

Purchased from Dnipro last summer for €7.75m, a sale could’ve commanded close to €40m.

Dovbyk not ready to leave Girona yet

However, Diario AS claims that Dovbyk informed his agents that he wants to stay on with Girona for at least another season.

It is not the only sought-after player who decided to stick and not twist, because Benjamin Sesko signed a new contract with RB Leipzig last month.

Milan continue to pursue Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee in a battle over commission with Manchester United ready to pounce, while Alvaro Morata of Atletico Madrid and Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku are also potential candidates.
