Milan have moved forward in their pursuit of Lazio defender Mario Gila, having met his wage demands ahead of a possible summer switch. The Spaniard is a primary defensive target, with coach Massimiliano Allegri keen to reinforce his back line.
Gazzetta suggests that Milan are ready to offer Gila a four-year contract, with an option for a fifth, starting at about three million euros per season plus bonuses, with built-in rises.
Formal talks with Lazio are not expected until after the Coppa Italia final in mid-May. The Biancocelesti are likely to seek more than €30m, with president Claudio Lotito reluctant to lower the price, not least due to Real Madrid’s 50% sell-on clause.
Juventus, Napoli and Inter are also tracking the centre-back. Milan aim to avoid a bidding war while holding their position.
In midfield, Milan are pushing for Leon Goretzka on a free when his Bayern Munich deal expires at the end of June. He is seen as an experienced leader as plans to reshape the middle of the park take shape.
Youssouf Fofana and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could depart if suitable offers arrive, opening room for reinforcements. Goretzka has Premier League interest but is thought to be open to Serie A, with Milan currently leading the race.
The Rossoneri are expected to accelerate discussions once the season ends as they reshape the squad before their Champions League return.
