The fee is seen as being around £60m for the England international to swap South for North London, with the feeling being that he had played his final game for Crystal Palace after footage showed him appearing to wave goodbye to the Palace supporters at the end of their goalless draw with Chelsea on Sunday.

Queens Park Rangers, the club Palace signed Eze from in 2020, look set to nab a 15% sell-on fee as part of the deal, but there will be disappointment across the capital that MIllwall were unable to keep hold of him.

As a youngster, the man who scored the winning goal in last season's FA Cup final had many offers from pro clubs, having impressed playing in the cages in his home borough of Greenwich at a young age.

His first club that he was contracted to was actually Spurs' rivals Arsenal, before being released and then joining Fulham and Reading - both of whom let him go not long after signing.

Millwall was the next destination for Eze, and he finally found a home within the youth set-up of the Lions.

Upon signing, he received a two-year scholarship with the club but, despite progressing through both the under-18 and Reserve teams at the Den, he left in the summer of 2016 after not being offered a professional contract.

Later that summer, he signed for Queens Park Rangers and made his senior debut in the FA Cup in January 2017.

It was on loan at Wycombe Wanderers though, where he really started to make a name for himself in the EFL during the first half of the 2017/18 season.

He scored five goals in 22 games before returning to QPR that January under Ian Holloway.

He then became a regular in the team at Loftus Road, and continued to be one of the key attacking threats despite a lot of managers coming and going during this period in West London.

He was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year for the 2019/20 season, and that therefore got him noticed by clubs higher up the food chain - most notably Premier League side Crystal Palace.

After signing for a reported fee of £17m in August 2020, Eze's five years at Palace have been nothing short of sensational. Excluding the 2021/22 campaign, where he spent most of the season out with a ruptured achilles tendon, he has reached double figures for goals and assists every season at Selhurst Park, whilst also hitting double figures for goals in each of his last three seasons.

The highlight of his time at Palace undoubtedly has to be in May at Wembley though, as Eze scored the only goal of the game for Palace to shock Manchester City and win the FA Cup, the first major trophy in the club's history.
