Milton Giménez has given Boca a scare four days before Cruzeiro's visit in the Copa Libertadores, with the striker now a doubt due to an ankle issue.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the squad trained in Ezeiza this morning, and by afternoon it emerged that the former Banfield forward had suffered an ankle problem that worried the coaching staff.

Claudio Úbeda plans a formal session at Ezeiza on Saturday to rehearse the XI for Tuesday. Whether Giménez takes part there will help determine if he can play.

The session carries extra weight because changes are already enforced. Santiago Ascacibar is suspended after his red card in Ecuador against Barcelona, and Adam Bareiro is out with a muscular injury to the adductor complex and left rectus abdominis.

Giménez had looked a logical replacement for Bareiro. His discomfort could now prevent that, and Úbeda will decide on the role based on his condition.

The match is on Tuesday at 21:30 at the Estadio Alberto J. Armando, La Bombonera. Boca will be aiming to keep the three points at home so that next week they depend on themselves to reach the last 16.

The referee is Venezuelan Jesús Valenzuela, with assistants Tulio Moreno and Alberto Ponte. Yender Herrera is the fourth official, while Ángel Arteaga and Marcos Suárez will oversee VAR.
