Ahead of the Champions League round of 16 between Atalanta Bergamo and FC Bayern, Atalanta coach Raffaele Palladino has shown great respect for the German record champions. At the same time, the Italian has made it clear that his team will be bold in their own stadium
For Palladino, reaching the last 16 is already a special moment for his club: „It’s a dream come true to be in the round of 16 and to face a team as strong as Bayern Munich,“ the coach explained ahead of the first leg
The Italian considers Munich to be one of the absolute top teams in European soccer: „They are probably one of the strongest teams in the world and probably the team with the best form in the five major European leagues,“ said Palladino
Despite the great respect, Atalanta want to approach the clash aggressively: „We know their strength, but dreams are there to be lived. We want to compete, be competitive and put Bayern in trouble.“

However, the coach also made it clear just how big a challenge his team face. „Bayern have few weaknesses. It’s a game like Mission Impossible,“ said Palladino
The Italian is particularly concerned about the individual quality of Munich’s attack: „They have great individuality up front and are formidable one-on-one and in deep runs with many offensive solutions.“
Nevertheless, Atalanta want to remain true to their own game. Palladino sees this as his team’s greatest opportunity. „We must not bend. We have to be ourselves and remain who we have always been in the Champions League and in the league,“ explained the coach
The key to success for Atalanta lies above all in intensity: „We can’t slow down and we have to increase the intensity – that’s our strength and our DNA.“
Palladino also hopes that his team can repeat the performance from the clash with Borussia Dortmund: „We can and want to repeat the performance against Dortmund in our stadium,“ emphasized the Atalanta coach.
