Chooses Spalletti as best coach, leaving Klopp out despite major Liverpool success
Mohamed Salah Snubs Klopp in Shocking France Football Interview
Mohamed Salah's stirred controversy with surprising comments that appear to dismiss the impact of his former Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp just year after the German’s departure from Anfield.
In recent interview with France Football, the Egyptian star was asked to name the best manager he’s ever played under. To the shock of many, Salah named Luciano Spalletti, his former boss at AS Roma ignoring Klopp who oversaw the most successful period of his club career.
Salah & Spalletti worked together for just 1 and half seasons totaling 62 games with no major trophies or individual accolades. In contrast under Klopp, the Egyptian featured in 349 match winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and more.
Despite their success at Liverpool, Salah & Klopp’s relationship wasn’t always smooth. Their most public fallout occurred in Apr 2024 during heated touchline exchange against West Ham requiring teammates like Darwin Nunez to intervene.
Though their working relationship ended with Klopp’s exit, Salah later revealed to Sky Sports that their communication has since improved:
“We’ve exchanged more texts in the last 3 month than in our 7 year together at Liverpool”
Salah's played for 6 clubs including Basel, Fiorentina, Roma, Chelsea and Liverpool following his early years at Al Mokawloon in Egypt.
