Mohamed Salah's exit was something that the Reds' fanbase didn't think they'd have to deal with until June 2027.

At the end of the 2024-25 campaign, Salah signed a two-year extension with Liverpool and was being handed around £400,000-per-week in wages.

This huge weekly wage came after the attacker contributed to 50 goals across all competitions and more or less carried Liverpool to the Premier League title.

However, after he and Arne Slot had multiple fallings out, he decided to seek pastures new and mutually terminated his contract with the Anfield outfit.

being shared with a new winger being one of their main priorities this summer.

However, his exit certainly hasn't come without consequences as one of his former Liverpool teammates could be following him to his new club.

Mohamed Salah could be reunited with Darwin Nunez at Besiktas

At the moment, Besiktas feels like the most likely destination for Salah to end up at.

Links with the MLS and the Saudi Pro League have been constant but, if the Egyptian King wants to prove that he can still hold his own with Europe's best, there's no better way for him to do that than with a Turkish Super Lig team.

The Egyptian King said that he'd never play for another team in England again and, since other European league's don't have as much financial power, Türkiye is the best place for him.

However, since Besiktas aren't as good as they used to be, several more players will need to be added to their ranks alongside Salah to make them competitive again.

So, the fact that Sacha Tavolieri has shared that Darwin Nunez is on the verge of joining Besiktas is hardly surprising.

"BREAKING, Darwin Núñez is edging closer to an agreement with Beşiktaş over a loan move until the end of the season," he wrote.

"More to follow."

Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah have a special bond from their time at Liverpool

Nunez was arguably one of the most frustrating strikers to play for Liverpool.

The Uruguayan was fast, did well in one-vs-one situations and often managed to pick out a pass when needed.

However, any time he actually got through on goal, he'd often sky his shot or send it to the wrong side of the post.

But, for one reason or another, Salah and the Uruguayan just understood each other on the pitch and often got the best out of one another.

In fact, Salah even admitted that, aside from Roberto Firmino, Nunez was his favourite player to play alongside.

This level of praise shouldn't be overlooked and, if Besiktas manage to get deals for both of them over the line, they could be back in business and start fighting Galatasaray for the title once again.

So, if Nunez moves there, it feels like it's written in the stars for Salah to join him so that they can try and take on the Turkish Super Lig together, even if it is just for a season.
