Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool this summer after a mutual decision, and the Saudi Pro League is viewed as his most likely destination. However, an Al-Nassr switch is in doubt given Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence, Sky Sports reports.
The move lets Liverpool reallocate significant wages towards new attackers, while the 33-year-old can negotiate a major package as a free agent. Declaring his exit early gives Anfield a chance to salute his legacy and is set to spark a global scramble for his signature.
Ronaldo has previously urged further recruitment, yet internal dynamics make a deal complicated for the PIF-controlled club. Other leading Saudi sides may provide a smoother fit.
Al-Ittihad are viewed as the most logical landing spot if he heads to the Middle East. They want a marquee figure to replace Karim Benzema and have long tracked the winger, having seen a £150 million bid rejected by Liverpool in 2023.
Major League Soccer also remains on the table. With Lionel Messi reshaping the league’s profile, Salah may see a United States stint as a brand play before a possible final move to Saudi Arabia later in his career.
Arne Slot’s position at Anfield is not expected to change, with the head coach chasing trophies. Liverpool are planning succession, not a like-for-like right-sided, left-footed scorer, and will seek a profile to fit an evolving attack featuring Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.
