AS Monaco have turned down a €27m bid from VfB Stuttgart to sign George Ilenikhena (19), according to a report from Foot Mercato. The 19-year-old centre-forward joined Les Monégasques from Royal Antwerp in a €19m move. Ilenikhena is tied with the Ligue 1 side over a long-term contract set to expire in 2029. The Franco-Nigerian striker is a reliable squad option for Adi Hütter. He has logged six goals and two assists in 33 games played.
Ilenikhena is expected to remain at Monaco. The 19-year-old may even see his playing time increase, considering Breel Embolo will leave the Riviera side to join Stade Rennais. VfB Stuttgart are in the market for a centre-forward after parting ways with Nick Woltemade in a €85m move. Monaco are fourth in the Ligue 1 standings after winning their second game of the season on Sunday against RC Strasbourg.
