More than 16 million viewers on average watched M6 on Thursday night as France beat Morocco 2-0 in the World Cup quarter-final, despite the late 22:00 to midnight slot. According to Le Progres, Médiamétrie figures released on Friday show it was the highest TV audience since the start of 2026.

The match delivered a 72.8% audience share, meaning over seven in 10 viewers were tuned in.

Les Bleus play their semi-final on 14 July against Spain or Belgium, which should draw even more viewers, helped by a 21:00 kick-off.

On 4 July, an average 12.2 million, with a 76% share, watched France’s 1-0 win over Paraguay in the last 16, even though it started at 23:00.

Matches aired between 29 June and 5 July lifted M6 to audience highs for that week. In June, the World Cup helped the channel rank as the third national network by audience, overtaking France 3.
