Moreno earns first call-up, eyes Choque-Rei after training

Palmeiras trained on the afternoon of this Friday (03), at the Football Academy, and continued preparations for the classic against São Paulo, at 4 PM on Sunday (05), at Morumbi, for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship.

Midfielder Lucas Evangelista began treatment with the Health and Performance Center after undergoing surgery on his right thigh to correct a tendon injury suffered against Bahia. Called up to the Argentine National Team for the first time in his career, midfielder Aníbal Moreno will participate in friendlies in the United States against Venezuela and Puerto Rico this October. The number 5 has played for his country's Under-18, Under-20, and Under-23 teams, winning the South American Under-20 Championship in 2019 and gold at the Pan American Games in Lima (PER). He also joined the main squad's training sessions in preparation for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“I am very happy about the call-up to the national team, it's the first time in my career. It will be a privilege to be with them, and now it's about doing a great job, giving my best here at Palmeiras. We are very focused on the game we have against São Paulo in the Brasileirão because, just like in the Libertadores, we are in the fight. The midfielder will meet his teammate Flaco López in the national team, who was also called up and will wear the Argentine jersey for the second time.

“When Flaco was called up for the first time, we always talked to him, listening a little about what it's like inside, and we were really happy the first time he was called. Now we are going together to enjoy it a lot, train very hard, and give our best,” he highlighted.

“Palmeiras is a very big club, and everyone is always watching the games, looking at us. The truth is that for me, it's a huge pleasure to wear this jersey, which also gives this privilege of having great visibility, but now we are also focused on the game we have ahead on Sunday,” he added.

Moreno also warned about the expected difficulties in the Choque-Rei.

“We are having many consecutive games, and very tough games. We are preparing very well, focused on recovery, and we know it's a classic, a separate match. We are working very hard, always focused on this game, and we will go in search of those three points,” he emphasized.
