Manchester United have received some good news in their pursuit of Morgan Rogers. The English attacking midfielder has been in glorious form this season and has subsequently turned heads at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are looking to further improve their squad following a highly successful 2025 summer transfer window, during which they replenished the attack and the goalkeeping position. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo’s instant impact has justified the English giants’ strategy of adding Premier League-proven quality to their squad.

Cunha and Mbeumo were key members of the first team at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford, respectively, and have taken no time to settle at the Theatre of Dreams. United are now looking for Bruno Fernandes’ long-term replacement, with the Portuguese Magnifico set to enter the final year of his contract this summer. Recent reports have suggested that the Red Devils have identified Rogers as a possible option for the job.

Proven in the Premier League

Rogers arrived at Aston Villa in the summer of 2024 following an impressive campaign with Middlesbrough, and took no time to settle at the Birmingham-based club. The Englishman finished his debut campaign with 14 goals and 16 assists in 54 appearances.

Rogers has maintained that form this season, registering 10 goals and seven assists from 39 games across all competitions, all but four of which have been starts.

The 23 year old’s performances have already earned him admirers at Old Trafford, but they are not the only parties in the race, with Chelsea also named as suitors. Liverpool remain linked as well, although recent reports suggesting they have entered talks with the player’s representatives have been refuted.

Rogers is under contract at Villa Park until 2031, but it now appears that he is already preparing to take the next step in his career this summer.

Preparations for summer move?

According to FootballTransfers, Rogers is in the process of changing his representatives, perhaps hinting at a potential move this summer. The report states: “FootballTransfers can confirm that the 12-cap England star is in the process of changing agency ahead of the summer window, suggesting that he is preparing himself for a big move.”

“Rogers’ family are in talks with CAA Base over a potential change of representation amid rumours linking him with a switch to Man Utd.”

“The Villa star is presently with Footwork but is in talks with the more established agency, which also represents his close friend Cole Palmer as well as a number of other leading Premier League stars such as Eberechi Eze and Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu.”

The report goes on to mention that United are planning to pair Rogers with Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson at the Theatre of Dreams.

“Rogers, meanwhile, is high on Man Utd’s transfer shortlist ahead of the summer as they plan a dramatic midfield overhaul. In their ideal scenario, they will pair Rogers with Elliot Anderson, who they intend to sign from Nottingham Forest.”

The report, though, adds that the double deal will be easier said than done, as both Villa and Forest have slapped £100 million price tags on their prized assets.

Final Thoughts

Rogers’ ability to carry out various roles in midfield and attack could be pivotal next season, especially if United secure Champions League football and have to play two games a week. The Englishman could help the Red Devils hit a higher gear next campaign, provided they are willing to break the bank for his signature.
