The Lennon Miller to Rangers saga has been going on for quite some considerable time, and it has become absolutely clear that this is a seriously coveted player, and without doubt, outwith Rangers and Celtic, and possibly even including, he is the best Scottish asset that the Scottish Premiership has to offer. He is by far Motherwell’s star player, and we can’t really think of anybody else in Scotland’s top flight who carries the same star power that he does.
Lennon Miller is a wanted man, and the price for a wanted man is definitely going to be premium. There have been some offers for the Motherwell star. The midfielder is very much enabled to have the choice of picks, the pick of the clubs, and he has to make a very, very, very important choice for his next move. He isn’t even 20 yet, and Rangers are heavily connected with making a move for him, as is just about everybody else, including that lot from the other side of the city.
Can we get Lennon Miller to Rangers? Unfortunately, the price for Miller, as we have stated distantly in the past, even in the last transfer window, is north of 5 million. This is a player that Motherwell, no fine well, has a huge price tag and will be the most valuable player to ever go between Scottish sides if either Rangers or Celtic are to sign him.
Of course, our interest is about Rangers. Can we get Lennon Miller? The problem for Rangers is that we have already wasted a lot of money on lower league nonsense, quite frankly. Rangers spent 500,000 on Joe Rothwell. That isn’t too bad in fairness, but Cortés was 4.5 to make permanent, and a number of other players have cost a surprising amount, such as the 5 million that it cost to bring in Aasgaard, not to mention the 3.5 million for Fernandez. So, whether we actually have any money left, we’re not entirely sure.
But Miller is not going to be cheap, and this does give Celtic the advantage when it comes to signing him. We know that there’s also interest from Como and other Italian clubs, as well as other European clubs. But the big deal is, of course, Rangers. Is it possible for Rangers to get Miller? Well, that all comes down to price. It’s as simple as that.
If Lennon Miller joins Celtic, he will struggle to get game time. Regardless of his ability, he will probably struggle, just like David Turnbull did. But at Rangers, he can definitely expect to get more minutes. Rangers currently have a midfield of Nico Raskin, Mohamed Diomande, and Joe Rothwell and Lyall Cameron. So that’s four. Add Miller to this, and you would be wondering who the heck would not start, because Miller certainly would.
End of the day, Miller is a coveted asset, and Rangers will have to spend big to get him. There is no evidence yet that we are going to put a bid in, especially given it would be around about four plus five plus million pounds to get him. Time will tell if this interest becomes anything tangible, but for now, we will just have to watch and wait.
