José Mourinho has stepped down as Fenerbahce manager after a little over a year in charge.
The Portuguese coach’s exit comes just two days after the Turkish side were knocked out of the Champions League play-offs by Benfica.
In a statement, Fenerbahce confirmed Mourinho had "parted ways" with the club, adding their thanks to the 62-year-old for his contribution.
"We wish him success in his future career," the statement read.
Mourinho, who has overseen 10 clubs during his career including Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham, led Fenerbahce to a second-place finish in the league in his only campaign, though his stint was marred by controversy.
Rivals Galatasaray announced they would "initiate criminal proceedings" against Mourinho, accusing him of making "racist statements" after a goalless draw in February.
Mourinho rejected the claims, insisting he is the "opposite" of racist, and launched legal action against Galatasaray, seeking compensation of 1,907,000 Turkish Lira (£41,000).
The former Real Madrid and Inter boss was also outspoken about refereeing standards in Turkey and received a four-game suspension — later reduced to two — for remarks he made about officials after that clash with Galatasaray.
