Manchester United are preparing for a busy summer transfer window with plenty of changes.
A new right wing-back could be among the priorities. Manager Ruben Amorim was keen on a reunion with Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda, but that is no longer on the cards.
The 17-year-old has agreed to join Premier League rivals Chelsea in a surprise deal in 2026.
The teenager has already undergone his medical. United need to respond to the setback by swooping for Bryan Mbeumo.
The Cameroon international has been in sensational form for Brentford this season with 15 goals and six assists.
Mbeumo is predominantly a right-sided winger. He has also impressed with his defensive contributions for the Bees.
The 25-year-old has won almost five duels per league game with 4.1 recoveries, 1.3 clearances and 1.2 tackles on average.
The Troyes graduate has likewise excelled with his tireless work rate and high pressing in the final third.
Mbeumo, described as ‘unplayable‘ by Bees manager Thomas Frank, has all the traits to become United’s next right wing-back.
The winger will enter the last year of his Bees contract this summer, but the club has an option for a further 12 months.
Brentford are in a good position to negotiate. Transfermarkt values him at £42 million, but the Bees could hold out for £50m to sanction his sale.
United were reportedly quoted a similar figure for Quenda earlier this year. It appears to be a no-brainer decision to secure Mbeumo’s services this summer.
The Red Devils are bound to face fierce competition from other elite Premier League teams, and they must be proactive to win the race.
