Thomas Müller expressed frustration over Bayern Munich’s missed chances following their 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
The veteran forward rejected the idea that Bayern were lacking energy after their Champions League clash with Inter midweek. Instead, he pointed to the numerous missed opportunities as the reason for not securing the win.
“We don’t need to talk about a lack of energy. Of course, we could discuss both halves of the pitch. For the fans, it was probably a great game," Müller told Sky Germany.
"We were determined to win, but our efficiency wasn’t what we had hoped for. The substitutions were good, and Serge (Gnabry) did well when he came on. We had a lot of energy, but the problem was the missed chances. A lot of energy, a lot of joy, but also a game of missed opportunities.”
Reflecting on his own performance, Müller said:
“My two or three crosses in the first half were good. I had some good actions, but there were also moments I got frustrated with. My finishing could have been better.”
Bayern will now be hoping to get back to winning ways and turn their Champions League quarter-final tie around when they visit Inter on Wednesday after losing 1-2 in the first leg.
“We have shown that we can create many chances, which will help us on Wednesday,” said Müller.
"I see a team that can progress to the next round of the Champions League on Wednesday."
