Calmac upsetting all the right people yet he’s walked the walk, can others say the same? Can they show us their Scottish Premiership medals?

A clip of Celtic skipper Callum McGregor has gone viral in regard to Sunday’s post match celebrations, as like everyone else our skipper was caught up in the emotion created by Julian Araujo’s last gasp winner. However it all seems to have got to quite a few people, not of a Celtic minded persuasion.

Callum was clearly purring with emotion as he pointed to his badge and roared “we’re not going anywhere” to the equally as emotional and delighted travelling Celtic support in the Rugby Park stands. We’ve actually missed out a sweary word before anywhere in that quote shown above.

It’s just what we as supporters want to see and here from our skipper, especially with a tough run of fixtures awaiting us. Callum clearly cares and understands the importance of what’s ahead, and so he should as he knows what it takes to win trophies.

Kieran Tierney observed the other day that given all that’s gone on at Celtic this season winning the league would be the sweetest of them all for him and it’s really rather remarkable that we’re even in a position to challenge for the title given the season of unrest and upheaval that we have endured.

Callum McGregor has that winning mentality, can our rivals say the same? Some have ridiculed Cal’s adrenaline fuelled remark as are we are still sitting in third place, but that last gasp winner kept us in contention, and at the end of the day, we are only three points behind top spot with a game in hand.

Cal knows we have gone through a tough period, and he like his teammates are somewhat underperforming, but his passionate outburst shows that he cares, and isn’t giving up without a fight, just the qualities that you demand of your skipper.

The two sets of supporters who are ridiculing our captain, have to remember one thing. Callum McGregor can back up his words, unlike their own sides. he has the medals to prove it.

Indeed Callum has won more trophies than the two of our title rivals combined, so he clearly has the right to display his emotions and feelings without being ridiculed. He can very much talk the talk as he has proven as much by walking the walk. Can others say the same? Tavernier? Shankland? No they can’t.

Callum McGregor truly is like the song goes, just like me and you. He’s a winner, and he just proved to everyone that he still has that hunger and desire to succeed. And he loves Celtic too.
