After Germany slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Ecuador in their final group-stage match, head coach Julian Nagelsmann is considering changes to his side for Monday's round of 32 clash with Paraguay.
Nathaniel Brown is expected to return at left-back in place of David Raum after recovering from a minor injury, but whether Nagelsmann will make any further changes will only become clear when the team sheet is released on Monday.
"There are tactical considerations about changing a few things. But there are also considerations about leaving everything as it is," Nagelsmann said at a press conference ahead of the match in Foxborough.
The 38-year-old said he will assess "what the opponent offers and what can help our game," but didn't want to go into detail, noting that there is no point in "making the opposing coach's job any easier than it has to be."
"I already said before the last match that I think everything should always be open for discussion," Nagelsmann added.
"In the end, we have to make the decision together with the players and the coaching staff, and we'll do that tomorrow."
Although Germany are clear favourites, Nagelsmann is expecting a tough test.
"[Paraguay] define themselves through their defensive football, which they do very well. Going forward, they play in a very direct way. They're an awkward opponent who will demand a lot from us," he said.
Kick-off is scheduled for 22:30 CEST on Monday.
