Julian Nagelsmann defended Leroy Sané after Germany’s 7-1 win over Group E minnows Curaçao yesterday, praising the winger’s work across the pitch.
In a post-match media round, the Germany coach said Sané put a great deal into the game, was diligent in transitions and contributed in both attack and defence.
Nagelsmann added that he did not have the numbers yet, but thought Sané covered significant ground, made good runs in behind and was a little unlucky with one chance.
"I'm not stressing about that. When it happens, it happens. We scored a lot of goals [against Curaçao], that's what matters," he told Sport BILD.
"For me, the most important thing is that we win, that's the top priority. I hope the goal comes soon," the 30-year-old said. Germany now turn their attention to Côte D'Ivoire.
