Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed Leon Goretzka is being considered for a more advanced midfield role at the World Cup.
According to BuLi News, the Germany coach also sees him as an option for the central attacking berth in his four-two-three-one, alongside the double pivot.
Speaking on Saturday, he said it is definitely an option, adding that Goretzka has scored a few in training and is making a good impression.
With Germany travelling without a traditional No. nine, Goretzka is among those who could chip in with goals.
Nagelsmann said the question is whether there is a classic striker who can guarantee seven, eight or nine goals at the World Cup, or whether the goals are shared as at the Euros, with several players able to get three or four and supply assists.
He added that the idea is to spread goals and assists among several players, though anyone capable of seven or eight would be welcomed.
Germany face Finland on Sunday in the first of two World Cup warm-up friendlies.
