Napoli have reached an agreement worth €20 million to sign Hellas Verona forward Giovane in January (h/t transfer expert Fabrizio Romano).
The Partenopei have been looking for attacking reinforcements after sanctioning the loan exits of Lorenzo Lucca to Nottingham Forest and Noa Lang to Galatasaray.
Lucca was signed from Udinese with high expectations, but has failed to nail down a prominent role due to Rasmus Hojlund’s performances as the fulcrum of Napoli’s attack.
Forest will pay a loan fee of €1 million and cover Lucca’s wages until the end of the season, with an option to make his transfer permanent for €40m.
Lang has fallen out of favour with Conte following his explosive interview in October, in which he vented his frustration over a lack of game time.
The former PSV Eindhoven winger has fallen down the pecking order, with Eljif Elmas favoured on the left flank.
He has given the green light for a loan move to Galatasaray, who also have an option to buy him permanently in June on a lucrative salary.
Giovane has risen to prominence as one of Serie A’s top talents this season, bagging three goals and four assists.
Inter Milan and Lazio have been monitoring the Brazilian striker, but Napoli have won the race for him.
The 22-year-old excels at link-up play and has excellent finishing abilities. He can play in any position across the forward line.
With Romelu Lukaku nearing a return after a long lay-off due to a thigh injury, Napoli are well-stocked in attack.
The Brazilian’s addition will be crucial to Napoli’s quest for the Scudetto. They are trailing by six points in third place.
