Napoli stumbling for the second match in a row, as they have drawn with Roma and Udinese in back-to-back rounds, has put the spotlight on their attack, which isn’t far less effective than other teams, Il Mattino informs.
The Partenopei have bagged 39 goals, a lot less than Inter and Atalanta, which lead the league and have netted over 50 already. But they are also behind less high-flying sides such like Lazio, Juventus, and Fiorentina.
One of the main problems is that Napoli have gotten very little from their strikers besides Romelu Lukaku, who made the stat sheet on nine occasions. Giovanni Simeone and Jack Raspadori have scored just once, while Cyril Ngonge still hasn’t. Matteo Politano and especially Davide Neres are more prone to assisting than finishing.
Antonio Conte turned to the deputies sooner than usual against Udinese to try providing a jolt, but they didn’t bring much to the table. Newcomer Noah Okafor was inserted very late. The Partenopei are working to improve his conditioning first.
It’s silly to blame the backups, even though they are a little subpar, when they are given so few opportunities to play and only have a handful of minutes at their disposal to do damage. They aren’t an offensive juggernaut by design, which hurts Lukaku’s numbers too, but Scott McTominay and Frank Anguissa are next in the pecking order, and they have done more than enough. Still, not adding any real weapon, not necessarily a winger, with the Khvicha Kvaratskhelia money risks being a back-breaking mistake.
