Nathan Ake is attracting transfer interest from across the Premier League this winter, a new report has detailed.

The 30-year-old defender has been linked with a mid-season exit from the January transfer window, having made just one Premier League start for Manchester City since February – in a 2-0 win over Everton in October.

Ake joined Manchester City from Bournemouth in 2020 and despite never being first-choice in his first two seasons at the Etihad Stadium, the Netherlands international was fundamental to the Blues’ historic treble win in 2023, even starting in his side’s UEFA Champions League final triumph over Inter Milan in Istanbul.

The centre-half was also important to Pep Guardiola in the 2023-24 season as Manchester City made history by becoming the first side in English top-flight history to win four consecutive Premier League titles – thereby winning their sixth league crown under the Catalan.

City overhauled their first-team squad in the summer transfer window following the appointment of Hugo Viana as director of football, with the Portuguese executive making seven new signings and offloading a series of senior stars beyond their respective primes in the backdrop of a trophyless 2024-25 season for the Blues.

Guardiola penned a two-and-a-half-year deal in November 2024 that will keep the 54-year-old in charge of Manchester City till the summer of 2027, with the former Barcelona boss recently rubbishing suggestions that he could leave the club at the end of the current campaign.

Manchester City are two points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal ahead of this weekend’s meeting with Nottingham Forest, though Guardiola and Viana are close to shoring up their frontline with the addition of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.

Semenyo has given his go-ahead to move to the Etihad Stadium following interest from Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea – but recent reports have suggested that City need to sell before they can acquire the services of the 25-year-old Ghana international in the January transfer window.

According to the information of talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Bournemouth are among the clubs considering a January move for Ake – who is keen to play more regularly ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Cherries are said to want a new centre-back, with Marcos Senesi set to leave at the end of the ongoing season after turning down numerous contract offers, while Crystal Palace also have Ake on their transfer radar.

From the perspective of those at Selhurst Park, it is claimed that club officials are looking to strengthen their squad for the second half of the campaign and in preparation for Marc Guehi’s pending departure – with the Englishman of interest to Manchester City.

Ake’s minutes for City have been largely restricted to the Carabao Cup this season and a January transfer – whether on a short-term loan deal or a permanent basis – will boost the centre-half’s chances of making the cut for Netherlands and Ronald Koeman at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
