The left-back finished ahead of Arnaud Kalimuendo and Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab in the fan vote for Mainova Player of the Month.
Nathaniel Brown’s performances continue to trend upwards on the form chart, and the 22-year-old even scored two goals in the first two games under Albert Riera. The new head coach did not explicitly name the defensive all-rounder as the team’s sixth captain because of his scoring prowess, but rather as a show of encouragement.
“The coach really pushes me a lot,” said Brown. “What he says is very nice to hear but I know that I have to deliver. I give my all in every game. I’m happy that he puts so much faith in me.” That belief was reflected in the fact Brown wore the captain’s armband for the first time in the away game at Bayern Munich.
The Germany international even nominally lined up in the right-back position last Sunday, and, as usual, covered a lot of ground. “I’m involved a bit more, have the ball at my feet more often, and in a different area of the pitch,” Brown recently said in the ‘Aufstehen mit der Eintracht’ podcast. “It was maybe a bit unusual to start with, but it feels very good.”
Riera is not the only one who holds Brown in high regard – the Eintracht fans do too, voting him as the Mainova Player of the Month for February with 40 percent of the ballot.
Arnaud Kalimuendo was in second place with 17 percent, followed by Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab (seven percent).
