Neil MacFarlane has expressed his enthusiasm and pride at his side's progress in the PL Cup so far, emphasising the affection the club holds for this competition, a sentiment rooted in the experiences and successes they have enjoyed in recent years.
"It’s a competition we love and have had some great times in, no more so than winning it," he stated.
"We know how hard a tournament it is to compete in, through the group stages and into the knockouts, and you have to be at your best to get through.
"The teams we have faced have been of such a high standard. It highlights where academy football is, as teams just continue to get better."
As the Bees prepare to take on Forest, MacFarlane is aware of the quality of the opposition and states that his team must be ready.
"We beat Exeter City in the last round and they are a side who topped their group with no losses. We [now] take on another team who topped their group and only lost once.
"We have to be at our best and that is what we strive to do in every game.
"I have full confidence in my players and I believe that as long as they do the basics right, a positive result can be achieved."
Brentford defeated Exeter City in the last round of the competition after a narrow 1-0 away victory at St James Park.
Isaac Holland grabbed the only goal of the match midway through the second period in what was a game of few chances.
Friday's visitors have been in good form, winning six of their last 10 outings in all competitions.
They faced Luton Town in the PL Cup round of 16 with goals from Kyle McAdam and Kristian Fletcher seeing them beat the Hatters 2-0.
Forest are also in the semi-finals of the Premier League International Cup.
The club will have updates of the game against Nottingham Forest on social media, as well as a match report on the official website and app.
