Neil Warnock has offered to manage Manchester United for free after poking fun at the club’s current boss Ruben Amorim.
Amorim is facing enormous scrutiny at Old Trafford after a disastrous start to the season.
The Red Devils have dropped down to 14th in the Premier League after registering just seven points from six matches.
Amorim has lost the support of fans following the humiliating 3-1 loss at Brentford last weekend.
The Portuguese boss still retains the backing of the club’s board, but their stance could change if results don’t improve soon.
Multiple names have already been linked to potentially succeed Amorim at Old Trafford, including Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola.
Experienced English manager Neil Warnock also put forward his candidacy after poking fun at Amorim for his use of a tactics board in the Carabao Cup clash against Grimsby Town.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “When you talk about that, have you ever laughed so much in your life?
“When he has got a little Subbuteo table on his lap in that game.
“Looking at that and I’m thinking I cannot believe what he has just done in front of the cameras.
“I mean I’ve seen it all, but listen I’m available if they’re struggling, and I’ll go in.
“I won’t charge them anything, I’ll do it for nothing.
“So put my name in the hat.”
United face Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday in what will be their final game before the international break.
Amorim’s side will be low on confidence after winning just two of their opening six top-flight games.
The situation is quite different in the other camp, with Sunderland enjoying a four-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Regis Le Bris’ side were expected to struggle after earning promotion from the Championship last season, but they have collected 11 points from six matches so far to climb up to sixth in the standings.
Sunderland will enter Saturday’s clash on the back of an excellent 1-0 victory at Nottingham Forest last weekend.
