Nélson Veríssimo will remain in charge of Benfica B after agreeing a new two-year contract. The 49-year-old's previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season.

With Marco Silva's arrival, the club have also moved to define responsibilities for the levels immediately below. According to O Jogo, Veríssimo retains the board's confidence and will keep a key role linking the academy and senior football.

A meeting between Veríssimo and Marco Silva is planned for July, when the B team return to work. It is intended to align strategies and strengthen coordination, at a time when the first team will already be involved in Europa League qualifying.

His renewal extends a long association with Benfica. A youth product as a player, he is set to begin his 14th season on a coaching staff at Seixal, having worked with the first team and the B side, interrupted only by a spell at Estoril.

Benfica are also keeping continuity in other age groups. Vítor Vinha remains in charge of the under-23s, while Luís Araújo stays as under-19s coach, underlining the club's emphasis on development.
