Stefan de Vrij says a contract extension at Inter Milan is not something on his mind right now after yesterday’s loss to AC Milan.
The Dutchman spoke in a press conference after the 0-3 derby defeat, as reported by FCInterNews. He also admits that it “hurts” to crash out of the Coppa Italia.
Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij is currently only under contract with the Nerazzurri until the end of June.
Therefore, there is the possibility that this could be the former Lazio defender’s final season at the club.
However, Inter do have the option to extend de Vrij’s deal by a season.
Furthermore, there have also been reports of an extension even beyond that.
The standard of de Vrij’s performances over the course of this season has convinced the Nerazzurri. Therefore, there are reportedly talks regarding a potential multi-season extension.

Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij was asked about his future after yesterday’s 0-3 loss to AC Milan.
However, the Dutchman responded bluntly to the contract talk: “I’m not thinking about that right now.”
“There are more important things,” he made clear.
De Vrij admitted that “The Coppa Italia was a goal for us.”
“It hurts to lose like this,” the 33-year-old went on. “We have to look forward, and I think about what I have to do.”
Meanwhile, de Vrij said that it’s “essential to stay united” after back-to-back defeats.
“We have to put this loss behind us. Because there are a lot of important matches ahead of us.”
De Vrij admitted that “this loss hurts.”
As far as the fatigue goes, de Vrij called it “normal when you play so many matches.”
“We’re basically playing 2-3 times a week. But that’s not an excuse.”
De Vrij then stated that “we had a great first half today.”
“And we didn’t play badly in Bologna.”
“But matches also turn on individual moments,” said the Inter defender.
“Now we have to stay united and focus on the next matches.”
