In addition to his sporting class, Maignan’s attractive transfer conditions also make him interesting, as he would be available on a free transfer next summer when Neuer’s contract expires

According to the Italian report, the 30-year-old currently earns around three million euros net per year at AC Milan, but as he would come on a free transfer, his salary demands are likely to be a good deal higher, especially as it would probably be the last major contract of his career

As an alternative for Maignan, which Bayern are also said to be considering, the Italians mention Freiburg’s regular keeper Noah Atubolu, whose transfer fee is estimated by the paper at around 20 million euros

The report does not mention how serious Munich’s interest in one of these two keepers is, but concrete approaches have apparently not yet been made. In the end, it all depends on whether Neuer remains fit and whether he extends his contract by another year.
