The rumors surrounding Michael Olise and Real Madrid show no signs of abating. Although FC Bayern continues to classify its star forward as “not for sale,” and even in Madrid few still believe a transfer will happen this summer, the Royals are said to have already set their internal financial limit.

Michael Olise is one of the most sought-after attacking players in Europe. After an outstanding season with Bayern Munich and a strong World Cup performance with France, the 24-year-old has been on Real Madrid’s radar for weeks.

However, the basic situation has not changed so far. Bayern Munich does not want to sell its star player despite the ongoing speculation. Olise himself has also not yet made any public statement regarding the transfer rumors. Real Madrid had already denied in June that it had made contact with the player or his representatives.

Will Olise become the new world-record transfer?

As reported by the Spanish website Fichajes, officials in Madrid are nevertheless continuing to work intensively on signing the Frenchman. According to the report, the club is even preparing an initial offer—in case an opportunity for a transfer does arise after all.

Particularly noteworthy: According to the report, Real has internally set a financial ceiling of up to 250 million euros. Such a transfer fee would not only set a new club record but also make Olise the most expensive transfer in soccer history.

As things stand, it seems extremely unlikely that a transfer will take place this summer. As The Athletic reports, citing sources with close ties to Real Madrid, club officials themselves do not currently view a transfer of the French international as feasible.

At Säbener Straße, too, all signs point to the attacking star staying put. Most recently, reports have circulated that Bayern is seeking an early contract extension with Olise. If so, the Frenchman could rise to become one of the record champion’s top earners in the future.

Munich signed Olise from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 for around 53 million euros. Since then, the left-footed player has developed into an absolutely key player. In 107 competitive matches to date, the Frenchman has racked up an impressive 96 goal contributions—42 goals and 54 assists—statistics that certainly explain Real Madrid’s enormous interest.
