It ended Newcastle 1 Wolves 0.
The visitors forcing two very good saves from Nick Pope in the opening couple of minutes.
However, once they settled down, Newcastle the better team in the opening half and should have gone into the break two or three goals up.
As it happened, they needed to take just one of those chances, Jacob Murphy crossing for Nick Woltemade to power his header home.
Looking at the individuals in black and white, interesting to get an independent perspective on how this played out.
‘Whoscored ratings use data from every single Premier League match, over 200 raw statistics included in the automated calculation of a player’s rating, weighted according to their influence within the game.
Every event of importance is taken into account, with a positive or negative effect on ratings weighted in relation to its area on the pitch and its outcome.’
As you can see, ten players received a rating of 7.0 or more, with seven of them playing for United.
Kieran Trippier getting man of the match, just edging out goalscorer Woltemade, both with a rating of 7.9.
I actually thought Sandro Tonali was easily the best player on the pitch, he was rated third highest along with Fabian Schar and Nick Pope, all of them on 7.5.
Jacob Murphy next on 7.3 and then Dan Burn (7.0) the other to get a rating of 7.0 or higher.
