Newcastle United are interested in signing Kobbie Mainoo and have asked Manchester United for the conditions of a potential deal.

Mainoo is keen to explore his options after losing favour under Ruben Amorim. The 20-year-old has been an unused substitute for the opening two games of the Premier League season and wants regular minutes as he looks to reclaim a place in the England squad.

Several sides in England and Europe are monitoring his situation ahead of Monday’s deadline for business.

Newcastle United are among the clubs to have enquired, according to Football365 journalist Jason Soutar. He has claimed the Magpies have asked for the conditions of a potential transfer.

Mainoo is open to leaving Manchester United and would prefer to join a European club. Newcastle, Champions League qualifiers this season, could provide a platform to play at the highest level.

Eddie Howe’s side have endured a frustrating summer in the transfer market but the arrival of one of English football’s best young talents would be considered a statement.

Manchester United are believed to value Mainoo, who has two years to run on his contract at Old Trafford, at around £45m. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have previously expressed interest in the player.
