Newcastle United have made the signing of Robin Risser (21) one of their priorities in the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sport.
Initial contact between the Magpies’ owners and the player’s representatives is reported to have already been made. A fee of between €30 and €40 million would be enough to convince RC Lens to part with their young goalkeeper, whose profile has already been approved internally by the English club.
A deal that could prove beneficial for all parties, with Lens securing a significant influx of funds and Newcastle bringing in competition for a key position in their squad.
At just 21 years old, Risser is making quite an impression. At ease on the ball, the 6ft 4in giant is enjoying a superb season with the Sang et Or, who sit second behind Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1. A mainstay in Pierre Sage’s starting XI, the Colmar-born player has started every one of the 29 matches he has played since the start of the season, keeping 11 clean sheets in the process.
