Newcastle United are exploring a move for FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, according to reports from The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
The 21-year-old Spanish international is reportedly high on the shortlist of options as the Magpies scramble to reinforce their attack ahead of the new season.
The move comes as Newcastle’s striker search continues to stall. The club missed out on top targets Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Šeško, both of whom opted for moves elsewhere despite strong interest from Tyneside.
To compound their woes, star forward Alexander Isak is expected to leave the club, with several clubs, notably Liverpool, circling.
Aghehowa, who impressed in the Primeira Liga last season with 13 goals and five assists, is seen as a high-upside signing with long-term potential. However, no formal approach has yet been made, and there is no guarantee a deal will materialise.
Fan reaction has been mixed, with some praising Newcastle's shift toward more sustainable signings, while others question whether the club can successfully close the deal – or whether this will be another high-profile miss in a summer of frustration.
