Some interesting odds on Premier League top four (and other possibilities) for the 2024/25 season where Newcastle United are concerned.

With bookies taking stock after these weekend results.

Six Premier League games on Saturday and another three on Sunday.

With West Ham v Newcastle tonight.

The bookies and punters reacting to how things now stand in the Premier League table (see below), as well of course, how they are now seeing the underlying strengths of the various teams and squads.

Listed below are the general Premier League odds now (morning of 10 March 2025) available from the various bookies for the 2024/25 season (in brackets are what the odds were after the very opening round of PL games):

Win the Premier League:

1/50 (13/2) Liverpool

66/1 (9/5) Arsenal

300/1 (1,500/1) Forest

1,000/1 (11/8) Man City

1,000/1 (40/1) Chelsea

4,000/1 (40/1) Newcastle United

So Newcastle United now rated sixth most ‘likely’.

Reality of course is that Liverpool have won the Premier League, 15 points clear and simply a procession from here on in.

This is how the Premier League table looks today (Monday 10 March 2025):

Premier League relegation:

1/500 (1/1) Southampton

1/33  (1/2) Leicester

1/12 (10/11) Ipswich

8/1 (7/2) Wolves

14/1 (12/1) Man City

250/1 (250/1) Man U

300/1 (5/2) Everton

300/1 (20/1) West Ham

300/1 (250/1) Tottenham

The bottom three are now looking increasingly nailed on.

Wolves the only possible team that can be caught it appears.

Eddie Howe’s team now amongst those where clearly no chance of going down.

If you are wondering about the Man City 14/1 odds of relegation, this is due to the possibility (probability?) of severe punishment from the 115 Premier League charges they face, which could include amongst other sanctions, points deduction or even relegation. Still waiting for the outcome of that case.

Finish Premier League top four:

1/1,000 (1/2) Liverpool

1/25 (1/9) Arsenal

4/7 (1/7) Man City

10/11 (9/4) Chelsea

11/8 (100/1) Forest

11/4 (9/4) Newcastle United

9/1 (11/1) Brighton

18 (66/1) Bournemouth

25/1 (7/2) Villa

150/1 (66/1) Fulham

This is where, like me, I guess you will be giving most focus.

Can Newcastle United bounce back into the Premier League top four and get Champions League football?

Well, the bookies now have NUFC sixth most likely.

When you look at the Premier League table, a win tonight at West Ham would be significant.

Both in terms of moving Newcastle up to sixth, level on points with Man City, two points off Chelsea.

The bookies of course would then very much shorten the Newcastle odds on finishing Premier League top four.

With it all but guaranteed that fifth place will get a Champions League spot, that could potentially prove very significant…
