In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Newcastle United are among the clubs hoping to land Liverpool talent Harvey Elliott. It has been revealed that the Magpies are facing competition from Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Brentford and West Ham United in pursuit of the English playmaker.
Elliott served as a decent squad player at the Merseyside club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the Premier League. The 22-year-old scored five goals and grabbed three assists in 28 matches for the Reds last season across all competitions.
The English talent did well to average 4.12 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League but only kept 23.5% of his attempts on target. He was even tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 82.2% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Anfield will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Elliott is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it in and around the opponent’s penalty area. The English talent has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
However, Elliott has to find a way to improve his productivity in front of the opponent’s goal. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so.
We can expect the English sensation to add more firepower to Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s attack. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at St. James’ Park in the coming seasons.
At 22, Elliott has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for the Magpies to consider in this summer transfer window. He already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Tyneside club.
