According to a recent report from SPORT, a new name from Barcelona’s youth setup has begun attracting serious attention from across Europe.
As such, Premier League side Newcastle United are making a strong push to sign young midfielder Guille Fernandez, identifying him as a long-term investment for their project.
The interest comes at a delicate moment for the teenager. Since returning from an ankle injury, Guille has struggled to secure the regular playing time he was hoping for.
He has started only twice in the 11 official matches he has been available for, a situation that has naturally raised questions about his short-term role.
This is a sharp contrast to how the season began for the youngster, as he was heavily involved during the summer.
He completed the entire pre-season with the first team under Hansi Flick and even made his senior debut for Barcelona during the Asian tour.
At that stage, he appeared to be one of the youth players closest to establishing himself around the first-team setup.

However, the lack of minutes in recent weeks has opened the door for outside interest.
Several clubs are now monitoring his situation closely, exploring both loan and permanent transfer options and among them is Borussia Dortmund.
Despite that, the strongest and most persistent interest is coming from Newcastle.
The report states that the Premier League club has made multiple approaches to ask about Guille’s availability, clearly signalling their intent.
Barcelona’s stance, though, is very clear. The club has already communicated directly with the player and made it known that he is not for sale at this stage.
Internally, there is full confidence in his development, and the message being sent is one of reassurance rather than uncertainty.
