Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is one of the names at the top of Manchester United’s summer wishlist to replace Casemiro, according to Spanish outlet AS.
Man United also have Sandro Tonali, Adam Wharton, Joao Gomes and Elliot Anderson on their list, but Guimaraes could emerge as a top target for the Old Trafford club.
Casemiro himself has recommended the signing of the Newcastle star and is confident his fellow Brazil international has what it takes to excel for the Red Devils.
Guimaraes could look to leave the Magpies at the end of the season given their underwhelming campaign so far.
Newcastle are unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season and are finding it tricky to convince the 28-year-old to sign a new deal.
While he is currently injured, the Man United board see him as a crucial player on whom to build the foundation for the future.
A move to Old Trafford could appeal to Guimaraes, who has proven himself over and over again in the Premier League.
The Brazilian has nine goals and five assists in 23 league games this term and has notched 30 goals and 25 assists in 147 league games for Newcastle.
Despite primarily being a defensive midfielder, the Man United target can also play centrally, and his creativity could come in handy for the Red Devils.
He is the perfect man to replace Casemiro, but getting him could prove tricky for the Old Trafford club as Newcastle will not be ready to lose such an important player easily.
Guimaraes is out of contract in 2028 and failure to get him to extend his deal this summer could play into the hands of Man United.
The Magpies could look to sell him this year if he makes it clear he wants to leave, and more suitors are expected to join the Red Devils in the race for him if that happens.
