Newcastle United ‘to target’ Frattesi and Fagioli after Tonali €116m sale | OneFootball

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Newcastle United are considering Inter’s Davide Frattesi and Fiorentina’s Nicolò Fagioli as midfield reinforcements after agreeing Sandro Tonali’s record €116m move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tonali cost over €60m plus add-ons when signed from Milan three years ago, and is now set to reunite with fellow Brescia native Roberto De Zerbi at Spurs for roughly double. The sale leaves Newcastle reshaping their midfield.

Frattesi is not in Inter’s plans and has already been linked with Nottingham Forest. He is under contract until June 2028, and the Nerazzurri expect around €30m for his sale.

Fagioli offers a more creative profile. A Juventus academy graduate, he joined Fiorentina in February 2025 for a total €16m plus add-ons.

The 25-year-old has 100 Serie A appearances, with six goals and 11 assists. Both Fagioli and Tonali received lengthy bans in 2023 for breaching gambling rules, and Fagioli approached the authorities for help, triggering an investigation into other players.
